The cast iron heats so evenly that my stew didn't stick once, even after two hours on low. The oval shape fits a whole chicken without crowding, which my old round pot never managed.

The oval shape is perfect for a whole chicken or roast, and the heavy lid seals in moisture beautifully. Cleanup is surprisingly easy too, just a quick rinse.

I was worried the oval shape would be awkward on my burners, but it actually fits perfectly and the lid seals so well that my stews come out incredibly tender. The cast iron is solid without being absurdly heavy, which is exactly what I wanted for everyday gourmet cooking.
