The Dervisci tumblers by Michele De Lucchi were inspired by the spinning movement of the turning-lathe used to model sheet metal on a die, progressively shaping the object's volume. De Lucchi associates the rotating machine with the dance of whirling dervishes, who reach a state of trance by reciting prayers while continuously spinning round and round, a symbol of planets orbiting. The sculptural, dynamic design of the three Dervisci tumblers is enhanced by the different finishes of the metal surface: polished steel; steel with copper PVD coating; steel with brass PVD coating; and steel with satined gunmetal PVD coating.

Robert ★★★★★

Watching the tumblers take shape from that sheet metal spinning process is visible in every curve—they feel substantial in the hand yet perfectly balanced. The brushed texture adds a nice subtle grip too.

Owen E. ★★★★★

The way the metal catches the light from every angle is mesmerizing. I keep picking mine up just to watch the surface shift as I tilt it.

Madison ★★★★★

The spinning-lathe process shows in every curve of these tumblers—they catch light like something hand-formed, not stamped out. I keep reaching for them even when a plain glass would do. Granted, they’re a splurge, but the weight and the way the volume tapers feel genuinely special.
